Taff-Ely Turtles Trip To Germany May 2003

Friday
After a hearty breakfast our hosts arrived at 9 a.m. to take us on a walking tour of Nuertingen. We were shown the main historic buildings and stopped for coffee opposite the town hall at about 10:30.
Group press photo at town hallWe then went to the town hall for a civic reception with the Mayor who provided us all with refreshments and information packs about the town. We presented the Mayor with a model of a Welsh dragon and a flag. The local press took photographs and these were published Saturday morning in a local paper with a short story about our visit.

After a regrouping at the hotel pflume we set of in cars provided by our hosts to the Bavarian Alps. We arrived at the Castle Neuffen where we received special permission to take the cars along the normally restricted road about, 2 miles long and actually park in the castle itself which is situated on top of a mountain. We had lunch in the castle restaurant where many of us sampled Bavarian sausages and beer (traditional fare).

Dinner at the slaughterhouseArriving back at Nurtingen at about 5 p.m. we had free time till we were being picked up at 7 p.m. to be taken for an evening meal provided by the Municipal Council.

The restaurant we were taken to had its own micro brewery and was in a converted slaughter house where we had a very large meal and sampled some of the local beverages. Some small gifts were given.
